Preston Amateur Radio Society is one of the oldest in Britain, being one of the 65 societies and clubs that affiliated in 1921 to the Wireless Society of London, which became in 1922 the Radio Society of Great Britain. We meet every Thursday evening at 7.00pm at the Lonsdale Club in Fulwood, Preston. We do not meet during the Christmas break. We welcome anyone who is interested in Amateur Radio,SWL or CB Radio. We can train our members up to the Full Advanced level (permitting the use of 400 watts on HF), and also offer specialised instruction in Morse or CW transmission. We have a 100 watt HF tranceiver, and a 35-50 watt VHF tranceiver, both with permanent suitable aerials on the roof of the building. These may be used by any member up to the power and band permitted by their licence, or to Full licence level under supervision. This may be at any time acceptable to the staff of the Lonsdale Club, and not just Thursday evenings. The Club's call sign is G3KUE. If you wish to join, please come along to our next Thursday meeting and see either our membership secretary (Eric Eastwood) or Treasurer (John Thomson). Membership fees are currently £10 for a Full Member and £14 for a family. This includes membership of the Lonsdale Club. - Members joining from October onward remain members until the end of December of the following year.
- Members who have not paid their subscriptions by the end of January are assumed to have resigned, and will no longer receive club communications. Strictly speaking, neither should they enter the Lonsdale Club members areas, though the latter are fairly relaxed about this.
